Join Us! Protect Elections!

Retirees have important activities coming up:

The Dallas chapter meeting will be streamed on line. If you can’t come to 334 Centre Street at 12:30 PM on September 2, join on-line.

I’ll be streaming the “Peoples Convention” on https://www.facebook.com/TexasRetirees and other platforms 4-7:30PM on both Sept 9 and 10. We’ll be providing some pushback to the Trumpster extravaganza fund raiser in Dallas on those days.

I will have two opportunities to reach you with my annual Labor Day message. At 6:30PM on September 3rd, I’ll be on-line with the College of Complexes.  On September 6th at 10:30AM I’ll be at the Oak Cliff Unitarian Church, 3839 W Kiest Blvd, Dallas. I think they stream it afterward.

All over the state, retirees are joining Labor Day activities. For those who can’t find one, or can’t afford a ticket, the President of the AFL-CIO will live stream her message at 10AM Central Time on their Facebook and YouTube sites.

Election Protection to the Fore!

Over 60 labor activists joined a discussion of election protection on August 31, 2026. The panelists agreed that retirees have a special role in making sure that Americans have free and fair elections this year. Retirees have a lot of experience at the polls.

Liz Sorenson of the Nevada AFL-CIO led the panel. She commented,  “Every union should be out there tapping into their retirees.” The others agreed.

They also agreed that unions and the coalitions they are forming are critical to saving our rights today, during the November 3 elections, and whatever happens after that. No one thinks it will be easy.

Unions are putting on trainings and teach-ins across the country., Most of them share the title “Know your rights.”
