Retirees Lead on May First
May 1st, 2026, represents a gigantic historical step in America. It is the first time in 140 years that major unions backed International Workers Day! It is the first time that American workers have been asked to protest and celebrate instead of going to work!

Calling for public events on a Friday is a bold step. The most likely people to take up the challenge are our retirees. We can make sure that the 1,100 American protests and celebrations are well attended.

If there is no event near you, just start one and post it on the Mayday Strong union web site. It doesn’t have to be elaborate, just a coffee at a Dairy Queen will do. The important thing is to protest and celebrate along with working folks and retirees all over the world!

Fight to Save Medicare
The crowds on May 1st give us a chance to gather petitions against Trump’s WISeR pilot program that is already underway in Texas. Just put a piece of paper on a clipboard and write this across the top:

- 1) It undermines Medicare by adding “Prior authorization”!
- 2) It uses artificial intelligence to override doctors’ decisions!
- 3) Its perpetrators get $money$ every time they turn down a claim!
