Retirees Reach Out

In early November, we received great news that the Build Back Better legislation in Congress would include lowering drug prices. Since negotiations first began, our issues have been pulled in by progressives and pushed out by reactionaries several times.

The giant retiree vote is essential to any political party, especially in low-turnout midterm elections. We want our issues made clear:

  • Lower drug prices
  • Voter rights
  • Medicaid Expansion
  • Medicare Expansion to include dental, vision, and hearing insurance

The Dallas Chapter will demonstrate precisely for these issues at 10AM on Wednesday, November 10, at 1100 Commerce downtown.  Like every Texas chapter, we will register voters at all activities.

Discussions are going on statewide as to how we can strengthen our organization so that seniors can elect those who support us in 2022.  In addition to drawing in more individual activists, we also need to bring other retiree organizations together.

Most, if not all, Texas retiree organizations are extremely limited by election law.  The Texas Alliance for Retired Americans stands out as the only organization capable of endorsing local candidates, campaigning for those who support the right to retiree and campaigning against those who oppose our rights.
