Start Now! Why Wait?

Texas retirees do not have to be convinced of the importance of the 2022 mid-term elections.  We’re already working by registering voters.

On an earlier post, we outlined the basics on voter registration.  But we continue talking about it and coming up with new ideas.  We’re using this organizing slogan: “Our vote is our voice! Seniors refuse to be silenced!”

Lots of organizations are also registering voters, and we are happy to cooperate with them. We sign up seniors at high schools, we set up registration tables at public events.

Our Austin Chapter has been particularly creative. President Jan Lance sends these ideas for registration tables:

  • Coffee shops
  • Beauty salons
  • Thundercloud Subs
  • Day Cares
  • School events such as back to school nights
  • Laundromats

In the vast spaces of Texas, our internet connections are vital. The website “register2vote.org” continues to be the best way to check registration information, get started registering or re-registering, and get started on applying to vote by mail.  We are carefully watching the voting law changes that go into effect on December 2. Stay tuned!
