We Deserve a Shot

Hi TARA Friends,

We know that the Texas Covid19 Vaccination program has been a frustrating disaster for most people. Governor Greg Abbott needs to hear our voices because we all deserve a shot.

Texas leaders have failed at their most important job, our safety.  TheTexas Alliance of Retired Americans (TARA) is launching a campaign with this message for Governor Abbott:  We all deserve a shot.  We are demanding immediate action from the Governor to ensure that Covid-19 vaccinations are distributed more rapidly, more equitably, and more transparently.

Please Join TARA and other organizations in this fight.  Don’t let Governor Abbott get away with negligence! Please share this with anyone or any groups you know who will call each day.

TARA’s suggested scripts shown below are timed for a message machine. We skipped Wednesday as it’s Inauguration Day. These are tailored for retirees and those working in health care and at essential jobs, for educators and school staff, and for all Texans concerned about the inadequate planning and distribution of a vaccine for a microbe that is overwhelming our health care system and wreaking havoc with our economy.

We all deserve a shot.  As a [senior] I’m demanding that Governor Abbott distribute Covid-19 vaccinations more rapidly, more equitably, and more transparently.  Vaccines must be made available in under-served communities, not just to the well-connected.  Information on vaccines must be transparent, widely distributed, and easy to follow.  Vaccine distribution is a test of leadership and the Governor must not fail this test.

We all deserve a shot.  As a [senior] I’m demanding that Governor Abbott distribute Covid-19 vaccinations more rapidly, more equitably, and more transparently.  Vaccines must be made available to front-line and essential workers.  School employees must be treated as front-line workers in our communities. Access to vaccines for educators and school employees must be prioritized.  Vaccine distribution is a test of leadership and the Governor must not fail this test.

We all deserve a shot.  As a [senior] my access to the Covid-19 vaccination may well be a matter of life or death.  Vaccine distribution is a test of leadership and, so far, the Governor has failed the test.   Delays and confusion over who to contact are unacceptable.  Governor Abbott must ensure that Covid-19 vaccinations are distributed more rapidly, more equitably, and more transparently.

We all deserve a shot.  As a [senior] I’m demanding that Governor Abbott rapidly distribute Covid-19 vaccinations to populations where Covid-19 may literally be a matter of life and death.  Texans 65 and over and those with underlying health conditions must have immediate access to vaccinations.  Information on vaccines must be transparent, widely distributed, and easy to follow.  Vaccine distribution is a test of leadership and the Governor must not fail this test.

New scripts will be made available each day on the TARA Facebook page and website listed below.
