SHARING OUR CONCERNS WITH MEMBERS OF CONGRESS

Fort Worth TARA President Jim Rivers and Activist Ellen Wakefield had an excellent meeting with their new Congressman Ron Wright’s Constituent Service Representative, Deborah Rollings. They expressed that Ms. Rollings is very warm and personable with extensive experience working with and assisting District 6 residents on many of the same issues facing retirees and seniors that are of importance to the ARA. She will convey their concerns to Congressman Wright and inform them of his responses.

HOUSTON TARA MEMBERS MAKE CALLS FOR WORKING FAMILIES

TARA Houston members called their legislators at their Wednesday meeting to speak up for working people against bill SB 2485-2488 which would prevent local ordinances about such things as rest breaks for construction workers and earned paid sick time.

DALLAS TARA CHAPTER CELEBRATES OLDER AMERICANS MONTH

At their recent meeting, the Dallas TARA chapter celebrated the start of Older Americans Month with the 2019 theme of “Connect, Create and Contribute.” Field Organizer Judy Bryantshared that TARA membership and activities involve seniors in all three aspects of the theme. She introduced Senior Source AGE Director Lynda Ender for a special presentation about their various programs which help carry out the mission: “To enhance the overall quality of life and empower ALL older adults in the greater Dallas area to thrive.” Lynda shared valuable information about the work of the Senior Source through protection, eldercare, financial security, advocacy, volunteerism and employment services.

Members received an information sheet about the US Postal Service and the latest ARA Fact Sheets on the Trump Budget and Raise the Wage, plus heard about Rideshare2Vote. President George Nolan gathered the group for a photo before the special cake was served.
