Houston Tara Member Honored

HOUSTON TARA MEMBER HONORED

Congratulations to Carolyn Riggs, a charter member of the TARA Houston chapter, for being recognized by the Texas Democratic Women of Harris County as one of their four “2019 Women Making History” Honorees. At a special luncheon, held at the IBEW local 716, presenters shared information about each award winner. Carolyn has been working and volunteering for Democratic causes and on behalf of labor, for over 30 years. She is an example of the kind of behind the scenes workhorse that is lifting up Democratic women every day with no expectation of recognition. TARA Houston President Cheryl Anderson, along with members Marlin Phillips, Thelma Phillips, Richard Shaw, Gayle Fallon and TARA Field Organizer Judy Bryant were present to help honor Carolyn Riggs.

ARA- Endorsed Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia received the Leadership Award at the luncheon. ARA Hero Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee spoke to the group and shared special things about each honoree, as she’s worked with them over the years.
