Giant Week for Texas Seniors
Everything is happening this week, and it’s all important!
We’re meeting, planning, phone banking, door knocking, fund raising, and everything we can think of for senior power.
Phone banking is up and running
Dallas calling started today and will continue through November 8:
- Retiree calling
- 1-4PM Mondays and Tuesdays
- Alliance/AFT Building
- 334 Centre, Dallas (Oak Cliff)
But wait, there’s more…
- AFL-CIO calling
- 5:30-8PM Mondays and Tuesdays
- CWA Building
- 1408 N Washington, East Dallas
And more…
The Dallas Chapter meeting is 12:30 PM on every first Wednesday, October 5, at the APWU Hall, 2010 Postal Way in West Dallas. Everybody is welcome, so please come!
Organize to Save Pensions
We’re always in every fight to save the right to retire. The latest attack comes from the City of Dallas which is placing Proposition One on the top of the November ballot. If it gets by us, it will drastically cut the pensions of City employees! Our October 5 Dallas Chapter meeting will plan our response. I’m going to propose a public news conference for 2 PM on October 13 outside City Hall.
And more…
Door to door canvassing for get-out-the-vote, GOTV, is 9 AM Saturday, November 8, from 1934 Pendleton Rd in Garland. Tarrant County starts with a free breakfast at 8 AM from 1924 Baird Farm Rd (Elevator Constructors Union) in Arlington. There are election activities every week day from UAW 848, 2218 E Main in Grand Prairie. Contact Judy Bryant at 214-729-0063 to join in!
The congressional champion for seniors, Marc Veasey, is holding a special seminar on Friday.
Did you think that was all?
If you check the “events” section of our web site, you’ll see that UAW 870 and UAW 276 retirees meet Tuesday, Houston Chapter (and Dallas) meet Wednesday, and Dallas CWA seniors meet Thursday. It’s going to be like this right through the election. Please join us when you can!
