We “Up Our Game” for 2026
We’ll be doing more of everything in 2026.
- Get your 2026 vote-by-mail application right away and get everybody else to do it
- Be ready to fight for health care, especially the “WISeR” Texas experimental program to cut Medicare benefits
- Unite everybody to fight cuts in Social Security
- Strengthen our retiree organization
Get Annual Vote-by-Mail applications
Our web site has links and instructions for VBM under “resources” under “about us.” Most computer users can get what they need from vote.org:
Some will use their county elections office for individuals. But serious activists will want VBM applications from the Texas Secretary of State because they can be used in any county.

Download these “universal’ applications, make copies, and hand them out to everybody you think is eligible. Move quickly in order to vote by mail in special elections January 31 and all through 2026.
You may still have questions. If so, contact me at genelantz@texasretirees.org.
Health Care Is Major Battlefield
Congress gave away billions to billionaires while letting health care costs go up. People will be giving up their insurance and flocking into the emergency rooms unless Congress repents and takes action.
Here in Texas, we have a special calling to defeat the “WISeR” program that will allow greedy corporations to use artificial intelligence to deny certain Medicare benefits. Every time the corporation turns down a retiree, they get a cash reward!

Fight the Cuts
Let me know about anybody who is having trouble accessing information from Social Security. We are opposing the layoffs of half the workforce nationally. The union fighting back has called for street actions at Social Security offices on January 14.

Strengthen the Main Hope of Texas Retirees
The TARA membership/fund drive continues through MLK Day. So far, a number of good Texans have volunteered “recurring” monthly donations that really help a lot. Everybody who intends to defend retirement programs should send at least $10 to:

Or just use the “donate” button on the signature of all my emails.
Expect contact from your closest Texas chapter with details about actions. We’ll have a lot of them!
in solidarity
