Strengthening Gulf Coast Retirees

Gulf Coast retirees have several opportunities to create a strong movement around Houston.

  • Retiree table at the AFL-CIO Labor Day Picnic on Saturday
  • On-Line Meeting Saturday afternoon
  • “All Hands” special meeting and news conference at 10Am on September 13
  • Another meeting September 14

There may be two retiree tables side-by-side at the Labor Day Picnic. Texas Alliance for Retired Americans is cooperating with the Houston AFL-CIO Seniors Committee.  The free picnic starts at 9AM on August 31 at 7601 Red Bluff Road, the Pasadena Fairgrounds, and goes all day.

That same evening at 5PM, I will deliver my Labor Day address on-line with the College of Complexes from Chicago. Click on https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81216467150

At 10AM on Friday, September 13, we will make our strongest effort to build a permanent chapter of the Texas Alliance for Retired Americans. We have a room at the AFL-CIO building, 2506 Sutherland, Houston, TX 77023. September 13 is the very first chance I have to drive in from Dallas. There will be more details about this meeting as things develop.

Another possible event is a retiree meeting for 12:30PM September 14, at the Heights Library, 1302 Heights Blvd, Houston, TX 77008.

If you want a strong retiree voice prior to November 5, please attend some of these events, and/or contact me at genelantz@texasretiredamericans.org. We have much to lose, and much to gain.

In solidarity
