Legislature Plans Punishment
Let us fight for freedom and voting rights!
Most of what the governor commanded the legislature to do in special session is bad business. The top of his list is curtailing our voting rights. The Texas AFL-CIO is coordinating activities to defend our rights. Sign up here.
The Texas Alliance for Retired Americans is determined to stand up for freedom and voting rights. Several of our activists will be going to Austin during the session to rally, visit political leaders, and testify. People may go in their own cars and at their own time, but buses are being made available for some. For example, Houston area retirees may contact the Gulf Coast AFL-CIO about riding to Austin on July 13.
In Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio, free buses are being arranged by Texas Impact for a statewide rally on July 19. Here is the link to the Texas Impact call for June 19 rally: https://texasimpact.org/let-my-people-vote-rally/.
Other organizations are calling for people to come to Austin on different days, and some will probably help with transportation costs. It’s worth the trip!
