TARA AND TEXAS AFT PARTNER FOR RETIREE BENEFITS
A number of TARA members attended the Texas AFT Convention and Professional Issues Conference at the Westin Houston Memorial City hotel. Field Organizer Judy Bryant had a TARA Information and Membership table, while TARA Houston President/Texas AFT Retiree Chair Cheryl Anderson led the Retiree Issues Meeting. Members heard about Identity Theft and ways to prevent it. Texas AFT Political Director Jennie Kennedy discussed the recent 86th Legislature and the gains worked for by retirees. Texas AFT Secretary Treasurer Ray McMurrey and Retiree Staff Advisor shared how far the Retiree Plus group has come and introduced a video telling their story. Many members join and work with both groups in a strong coalition to benefit all retirees.
