Texans Join National Health Care Protests
National Alliance for Retired Americans called for protests of the Republican Health Care law on May 12, 2017. Texans joined in.
Organizer Judy Bryant set up our action for 10 AM at Congressman Pete Sessions’ Dallas office. When she learned that one of the several groups of “Indivisible” had called an event for noontime, she changed our time so we could pull together. Another “Indivisible” group had called yet another action at the same time a few miles away, but they didn’t make the effort to pull together, so two separate events occurred at the same time.
Zen Biasco, at left in the photo, grabbed a bullhorn to lead chants and introduce speakers. There was a lot of energy in the crowd, but Zen’s was the most impressive!
Our combined actions drew 85 participants, but only one radio newsperson for media coverage. There were a lot of really good, original signs, but Dallas Chapter President George Nolan had the best one.
