Texas Retirees are on the Front Lines!
All over Texas, members of the Texas Alliance for Retired Americans (TARA) are in the first ranks of the many ongoing battles for decent living, rights, and dignity in America. Retirees are making calls, filling out petitions, visiting political leaders, and hitting the streets with younger protesters. We initiate many of the activities!
Even though they were in their home districts, many of our political “leaders” were hiding from their constituents. If we couldn’t find them, we protested at their offices!
Austin and San Antonio
Austin TARA chapter members protested for health care at the offices of Representative Lamar Smith.
Coastal Bend
Our Coastal Bend members joined a protest at the offices of Congressman Blake Farenthold
Dallas
In Dallas, Judy Bryant organized a good 130 people to protest outside the offices of Congressman Pete Sessions. Hobie Hukill led the march and chants demanding good health care for all.
Fort Worth
Congressman Burgess claims to have a good plan to replace Obamacare, but you can bet it will entail less coverage for Americans and more money for the insurance companies!
Houston and the rest of Texas
Retirees Also Have Strong Legislative Programs
TARA members are talking to the political leaders whenever we can find them. Our message is to defend and expand pensions, health care and Social Security. Our motto is “Don’t let us be the last generation to retire!”
