Retirees Need Help

American Airlines retirees are asking that letters be sent to executives asking that they not cut benefits. To send a letter to top executives, select your targets from the 12 listed. click here. Don’t use the red “submit” button you first see, but “use selected recipients” at the bottom of the page.  Then it will ask for your information. Then you submit at the bottom of the page.

The Texas Alliance for Retired Americans urges everyone over 65 to vote by mail. Complete instructions are on our site. under “Voting in Texas Elections.” The quick way to make application is to download the application form and send it to your local elections office.  Just click on http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/forms/pol-sub/5-15f.pdf. The application is easy to fill out and mail to the county elections office. All anyone needs is contact information for their county, and the Secretary of State lists all the county addresses. Just click on http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/voter/county.shtml

Come to our next chapter meeting. Corpus Christi meets on September 10, Fort Worth meets on September 17. Austin usually meets on the 3rd Wednesday, but they have moved their September meeting to September 18. Contact us for details.

Here is the invite to the Corpus Christi meeting:

President Mike Whitmire invites you to join the Corpus Christi chapter for their meeting this week:
When:  Wednesday, September 10, 2014
Time:    12 noon-light meal served
Place:  Corpus Christi AFT Office
            4455 SPID Suite 48
            Corpus Christi TX 78411
Our theme for this meeting is Elections 2014. We will have a representative from the League of Women Voters and will review Voter ID laws and how they affect seniors, plus plan what we must do to ensure we get residents of nursing homes and people at senior centers registered and voting.  We will discuss Vote By Mail which is the best option for seniors and does not require an ID.  We will also sign a pledge regarding candidates who will fight to strengthen our retirement security and preserve Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.
We hope that you will be able to attend this important meeting.  Please share this email with anyone you know who is interested in preserving and expanding the right to retire!
Blessings,
