Area Retirees to Celebrate Medicare’s 49th Birthday
At “Don’t Mess With Texas, ALEC”: Rally!
Dallas, Texas–To mark the 49th anniversary of Medicare July 30, area retirees with the Texas Alliance for Retired Americans will celebrate in Dallas during the “Don’t Mess With Texas, ALEC” rally along with National Alliance for Retired Americans Executive Director Rich Fiesta who will join protesters at the Community Brewery and outside the ALEC National Convention at the Hilton Anatole. The event will also kick off the Alliance’s “Medicare Turns 50” campaign for next year.
“Retirees in our area are struggling to get by, but they know how much worse things would be without Medicare. Because of Medicare, seniors are able to see a doctor, get their prescriptions, afford a nursing home, pay bills and survive” said Gene Lantz,
President of the Texas Alliance for Retired Americans. “The ALEC attempts to privatize Medicare and Medicaid would be very harmful to seniors everywhere and we are standing against ALEC for this reason.”
