Ask Leah About Obama Care!
During the Social Security celebration in Grand Prairie on August 14, Leah Witherspoon issued a strong “thank you” to Congressman Marc Veasey for supporting the Affordable Care Act. Here’s a letter from Leah explaining her experience:
“Gene you asked that I let you know about my current experience with the Medicare donut hole. I found out day before yesterday that I had hit the dreaded black hole for perscriptions. I don’t know technically how this ugly thing works but I do know that the Affordable Care Act has helped, and God willing, this monsterousity will go away at some point in the future.
Two years ago I had to spend $3600 to get my co-pay back; last year it was $2400 and this year it’s $1200. Due to an increase in the cost of my insulin I should make this money up in just two months. In January when I must make my deductible one of my insulin’s cost $195, now just seven months later this same insulin is costing me $320. Needless to say when I spoke with the pharmacist I had to let him know that I couldn’t pick up my prescriptions until August 20th when my Social Security check comes in. So far my prescriptions two different types of insulin and my needles will set me back over $550. Thank goodness for Congressman Veasey and Obama Care!”
